![]() I don’t mean ten minutes on hold I mean ten minutes just to get them to spell my name and address correctly. When I contacted customer service, it took ten minutes for them to collect my information. I took a look at the configuration and saw some other software badness there: problems entering a WEP, some strangeness when it stored the WEP key, and it would never connect using WEP, even if the key was 100% correct. ![]() I installed the driver on my Mac and plugged in the DWL-122: it crashed the iBook. I had purchased a used iBook and this seemed like it would be a low cost way to add a WiFi connection to it without having to pick up a pricy AirPort (and Mac only) card. ![]() This is a USB based adapter that is supposed to offer 802.11b (WiFi) connectivity to a PC or a Mac. One at a time, I guess: first lets look at the DWL-122. So I’ve been waiting a month for D-Link to step up their support on their DWL-122 WiFi/USB and they’ve failed miserably – in fact, while I’ve been waiting for a new driver from them, I’ve discovered that their DBT-120 Bluetooth/USB adapter sucks almost as much! This is especially true when dealing with a brand new/1.0 product. ![]() ![]() Pretty stupid of me, I know, but when dealing with a hardware vendor I do have an inexplicable large amount of patience when their products are defective. This Rant has been over a month in the “waiting” because I believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt. ![]()
